Aqueduto das aguas livres

The Águas Livres Aqueduct was the most spectacular construction of the reign of King João V. It was built between the year’s of 1731 and 1748 under the orders of Claudio Gorge de Amaral, and designed by the architects António Cannevari, Manuel da Maia and Carlos Mardel. From the Source in Caneças to Amoreiras, it has 18,605 metres in length. Its galleries and branches totalize 59,838 metres. It’s monumental section consists in 3 parts:

2. Amoreiras Arch
