Estrela Garden:
Lisbon’s oldest garden, the Jardim da Estrela, lies in the shadow of the Estrela Basilica near São Bento Palace (home to the Portuguese parliament).
Laid out in the middle of the 19th century, they serve as a focal point for local residents, who like to wander in numbers among the flower beds before enjoying a cool drink at the waterside café .
Adults sit in the shade watching the children enjoying themselves in the garden’s play areas, while occasional concerts take place in the wrought-iron bandstand during the summer months.
Praça da Estrela Opening hours: 7.00-24.00
