St.Vicente de Fora Monastery:
This is the headquarters of the Patriarcado of Lisbon, this monastery founded in 1147 by D. Afonso Henriques, the first King of Portugal, keeping a promise made to the martyr S. Vicente over the success of the conquest of Lisbon from the Moors. The Monastery is now one of the most impressive monuments in the city, thanks to its proportions and the beauty of its lines. From the building you can see a stunning landscape and view of the Tejo river.
One of the main attractions of the Mosteiro is its renaissance façade from the XVIth century, with tiles inspired by La Fontaine.
