“ where the land finishes and the sea starts …”
Visiting Cabo da Roca (the western European point) you can read this
ancient believing ; in such a strong way it has a lot of sense if you take
a look along the history…
Portugal has always looked to the ocean more than to an European
heartland; and this relation wuth the sea has had a strong influence in
people's way of act .It's a country of sailors and adventurers; a land
of travellers that adapt theirselves wherever they emigrate and that
converts in Portuguese from heart and soul every newcomer.
Travelling around its 1793 km of coastline you can enjoy, suffer and fear
really powerful and consistent waves as Pedra Blanca, Coxos,
Supertubos, Nazaré …. But apart form these world class waves ,
Portugal's coastline is full of hidden an uncrowded beach breaks along
of sandy white beaches to ve almost alone in the break point ; therefore
from the far south of Sagres to Viana do Castelo you'll ind places
almost virgin to discover and to still enjoy the essence of pure surfing.
In our zone has became a really popular activity and the fact of being
so close to Lisbon (the CAPITAL) transform some really good beach
breaks in crowded and tensioned places where “glamour and image”
are the most; and where every teenager (and not so teenagers) tries
to live his own “California dream”.
