Peninha Chapel:
This chapel, founded by Frei Pedro da Conceição at the end of the 17th Century, is situated at one of the most attractive points of the Serra de Sintra, by the ruins of an older one - the Chapel of São Saturnino. Its Baroque interior is notable for the blue and white azulejos depicting
scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary, dating from the 18th Century, as well as a reredos with salomonic columns and marble inlay work, attributed to the Royal architect João Antunes (early 18th Century). It's just on the hills of the back part of Casal Antigo, and it's a worthly visit, you just have to ask us and we'll show you the way. |
